Her Name Might Be Gloria Jean

Remember the memory-keeping FLEx story Doug shared with us last year?
If you ever talk about memory or elderly care, or if you have thought about taking your students to a nursing home for a FLEx, check out timeslips.org.

“TimeSlips opens storytelling to everyone by replacing the pressure to remember with the freedom to imagine.” Rather than constantly correcting those with memory loss, TimeSlips uses a photograph to invite an elderly person to begin making up a story. The creative process of inventing a story provides opportunities to relate and interact that are otherwise unavailable to those with memory loss.

And the stories are great! Read “Her name might be Gloria Jean” and more.
Check out TimeSlips’ creativity journal here.
